Where is my invoice data stored?

Entirely in your browser. Your own details, logo, and recent clients are saved to your device's localStorage and never transmitted to our servers — we literally don't have a database. When you download the PDF it's generated in-browser too. Clearing your browser data (or using the 'Clear saved data' button) wipes everything.

Do I need to include GST at 10%?

Only if you're GST-registered. Registration is mandatory once your turnover reaches $75,000 a year — below that, it's optional. If you're registered, charge 10% GST on taxable supplies and include the words 'Tax Invoice' on the document (the generator labels it as 'Invoice' — you can edit the heading if your clients expect the strict ATO wording). If you're not registered, leave the GST rate at 0%.

Why does the template ask for an ABN?

Under Australian tax rules, a business that pays an invoice over $82.50 (including GST) without an ABN on it must withhold 47% and remit it to the ATO. Including your ABN lets the payer pay you in full. If you don't yet have one, apply for free at abr.gov.au — most sole traders qualify in minutes.

Can I add my own logo?

Yes — upload a PNG or JPG and it'll appear in the invoice header and PDF. The image is stored locally in your browser, not uploaded anywhere. Keep logo files under about 1 MB for best performance.

Does the invoice number auto-increment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The number you enter is remembered in your browser, and the next invoice will suggest the next number up. You can always override it manually if you prefer a custom scheme (date-based, client-based, sequential with a prefix, etc).

Is this suitable for business or tax filings?

Accepted Answer

The invoice includes every standard field (invoice number, dates, line items, subtotal, tax, total, payment terms, and notes) and outputs a clean PDF ready to send. It's perfectly fine for freelance and small-business invoicing. It is not a substitute for accounting software for bookkeeping or tax returns — for that you'd want FreshBooks, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar.
